Albums

The discography of American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and several compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before Toto was formed, members of the band played session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 as a result of the collaboration.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for lacking hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen quit, and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The group went through old recordings and tapes to create the unique record. The album was well-received by fans and the band embarked upon an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

During the tour, Bobby Kimball, the lead singer, was detained for drug charges. The band decided to let him go at the conclusion of the tour, and they hired guitarist/singer Joseph Williams in his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the group after the tour. Leland Sklar replaced him.

The TOTO Museum is a futuristic building with several exhibition rooms dedicated to presenting the story of the company and its most innovative products. Toto has produced many music videos. The group has also released numerous compilation videos and DVDs. The band's most popular video is "Africa" which has over one billion views. The video is set in a library where the band performs on top of an African book stack.

The song "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by members of the band and produced David Paich. It was a big hit in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto regain their popularity after their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.
